Neighborhood residents, city officials, city Parks and Recreation staff, and community outreach organizations gathered together in early August 2017 to celebrate the grand re-opening of the Mae Simmons Community Center. The 12,400 square foot facility features custom clerestory artwork with an innovative lighting feature, newly renovated lobby, activities room, library, computer room, exercise room, kitchen and restrooms.
Mae Simmons was an extraordinary individual who positively impacted countless children’s lives. Through the growth and renewal of the Community Center, Mrs. Simmons’ heart-felt work and mission to help every child succeed continue to benefit the Lubbock society.
