University Medical Center celebrates the colorful, attention-grabbing, newly renovated Children’s Hospital this month. Renovations were made to 25 pediatric rooms, 16 pediatric intensive care unit rooms, and a new pediatric tub room with an inspiring beach theme. Each of the patient rooms are provided with calming graphics and modified hospitality style built-in storage as well as additional seating areas for families.
When UMC came to CDG to design a dynamic and modern, yet comforting pediatric unit, two main issues needed to be clearly addressed: understanding the scale of the hospital and creating a supportive healing space for children. Through the use of bright colors, fun finishes, efficient and functional spatial planning with interactive detailing, Condray Design Group is able to create a wonderful space for UMC’s younger patients.
Photographer, Ben Hicks, dedicates his oceanic print, “Stars of the Bahamas” to encompass the entire south wall of the pediatric tub room in honor of his son, Carson Hicks.
